This was a well attended event, allowing the mix of newcomers and "experts" that took part the chance to shake off the cobwebs and get a taster for organised off road motorsport. The mornings session gave everyone a chance to try their vehicles out on the off road course. Newcomers were given some advice and hands on training before being "let loose" on the course. The Ibex fraternity disappeared into the woods and only fleeting glimpses were seen for the rest of the morning as they reappeared to hunt for spares having managed to find the weakest link in their transmission which, in this case, turned out to be a CV joint on Steve Barras' short wheel base.
For the afternoon session Dave and Matthew had set out a 5 section mini trial and those that wanted to have a go collected their score cards and lined up for the first section. Dave Willard was the first and only retirement of the day after losing drive in the front axle of his 90 on the first section. Full "results" from this non competitive mini trial are shown below.
Congratulations go to Keith Briggs and Robin Sermon who finished 1st and 3rd respectively in their first trial. A pat on the back for Ray Poulton who finished 2nd and a wake up call for the rest of the "experienced" triallers who trailed in their wake :-) Pictures from the day are shown on the following pages, thanks to Ron Willsher for supplying some of the pictures.
