200Tdi Oil Pressure Gauge sender unit
Just got round to fitting a new oil pressure gauge (not switch) sender unit after the old one broke on Mudmaster last year. Got a sender unit from T'bay, fitted it OK, but when the ignition is turned on the gauge (Sunpro) flicks right over to the right and when the engine starts comes back to the mi...

Dave I think there was a review of this kind of stuff in International Land Rover Owner about 18 months back. From memory I think the concensus was that the DiscLok (big yellow metal dish that fits over the steering wheel) was the best value for money single item, although I think it costs £100+ fo...

Dave In my view (which is of course very subjective!) - 11mm should be ample. If it's just for very occaisional use then as long as there's no obvious damage to the rope, a 2nd hand one should do fine if you can get one for the right money. Alternatively you could always wait for Santa to bring you ...

Dave You'll need a fairlead whatever you do and you'll have to cut a reasonable sized hole in the front of the box and an even bigger one at the back to allow the rope to coil round the drum without fouling on the bumper. I'd certainly look at mounting the tray behind the bumper so that the winch is...

If I was after a good general purpose winch that I could rely on I'd probably go for a Goldfish. Can get options for remote operation (wired or wireless) and/or fit a control switch in the cab. Freespool is OK (my rear winch is a Goldfish) and they do a kit to operate it from inside the cab via an a...

Quick update - managed to get it out but knackered the surface of the hole where the small banjo bolt screws in. Also, when I tried to take that one apart it took a 3 foot bar and it just rounded the corners off the nut on the bottom part of the body so it's well and truly sha**ed  interesting...

Stuck Injector
Managed to get three of the injectors removed from the head for reconditioning but the fourth is stuck tight. Trying the usual things - moving side to sode with a spanner on the flat with lots of WD40 but can only get a small amount of movement. Looked on various forums and one idea seems to be to m...

Thanks for all the helpful tips (!!!). managed to sort the wiring so it started however had a small problem of not being able to stop it even when the ignition was off :? Finally worked out that solenoid in the injector pump is open when there's no current to it ie. let's the fuel through, and has t...

Dump Trouble
No, it's not what you think. Having a bit of trouble with my 1 ton diesel dump truck that's developed an electrical starting problem. I suspect one of the controller/relay components is duff as I'm getting intermittent and varying symptoms occuring. It's quite old and is just used offroad (it is act...

Nick The primary earth will be via the consumer unit/fuse box and back to the incoming tails where they enter the meter. As Dave says, secondary earths can be provided to ground via a suitable earthing rod also cabled back to the consumer unit. The only reason that metal (lead, copper, etc) pipes ar...
