Re: Crankshaft oil seal to timing case
Crankshaft oil seal to timing case seems to be leaking quite a bit of oil, any hints tips and guides on changing this seal would be appreciated, have changed timing belt and the modified timing tensioner so have been very close to the seal, is it easy to get out, any secret "Mathew's make the ...

Paul , easiest route is 300tdi disco, gearbox mounts are on crossmember which bolts into your chassis, engine mounts will need cutting off disco chassis and welding onto your chassis. Matthew Hi I may be wrong but when looking at a disco gearbox compared to the 90 one the bell housing is a fair bit...

Re: Which oil pressure gauge/voltmeter
[quote="varleym"]Just been looking at which oil pressure and voltmeter gauges to fit on the 90. Don't want/need to go OTT so something like VDO seem to be reasonably priced. Anyone got any experience of these, good or bad? Also, it seems that mechanical (capillary?) oil pressure gauges are...

only thing i'd like to change on my standard gauges is to swap the temp gauge with a proper accurate one that actually reads the temp in Celcius, instead of a random sort of white bar with a red bit at the top. Very easy to do.I have had a digital read out on my engines for last 10years, they...

Ok - I'll try this over the weekend and let you know how I get on. Just as an aside, when it comes to re-assembly - how do I hold the crank to enable me to torque the nut up sufficiently (I've got an air wrench - would that do?). Cheers Mark Use the air wrench on highest setting, ( this is what mos...

Mark, honestly you are better off using the starter motor to undo the bolt as there is a lot less chance of doing any damage to the motor or you. Just think, would you swing on a 3 foot bar on two 8mm bolts or on a couple of flywheel teeth? When you put it back together use a dab of thread lock. I ...

Dave Kingson's lending me a home made piece of bar that attaches to a couple of the crankshaft pulley bolts, however I'm a bit wary of shearing the bolts off if the crank damper bolt is going to require some significant 'persuasion' to loosen it. Would your 'starter motor replacement' gadget (and t...

Re: First thing i would do
Have you eliminated general earthing and wiring problems yet? If my headlights were flickering I would suspect wiring before more expensive things... You say your voltage is 13.8-14.2... So it IS charging then... :) Additional Earth had been added from engine block to battery -ve. Alternator IS cha...
