Back on topic and to throw even more ideas about.., I was buying some stuff from carbuildersolutions the other day and noticed this, no idea how it compares price wise to the x-eng setup but gives you a few options.... It works out about the same as the X-Fan once you include the fiver for retappin...

Thanks for finding that out Dave, I'll have a think about it but I've gone off capillary ones I think. According to paddock's shop a carbed V8 has an 82 degree thermostat and the switch X-Eng supply has two sets of contacts, one of which is on at 88 and off at 83, the other on at 92 and off at 87. S...

Cooling fan switches
The Kenlowe capillary type thermostat I use to switch the fans on my 110 has died and so I need to replace it. Has anyone got one of these: http://www.x-eng.co.uk/X-Fan.asp Or does anyone have anything else they would like to recommend? The Kenlowe thing has been OK but sealing where the capillary g...

V8 carb fuel pump
I'm after an in line fuel pump to suit my 3.5V8 on SU carbs. Is something like this one on eBay going to be any good. If not, what is? I could also do with some kind of valve for the breather on the tank. I know when Dave did his on the 100" he had two, one pointing each way so as to allow exce...

Had it running today, still doing the same thing. Plugged the timing light in and although I wasn't sure how to check if the timing is set right, it is definitely advancing with rpm so the insides of the dizzy are probably OK. The dizzy isn't loose so I doubt the timing has slipped. Then proceeded t...

Thanks for that Dave, I had wondered along the same lines. I do have a timing light that someone gave me years ago, maybe it's time to find out if it works (and if I can work out how to use one). Even if it doesn't I guess I can have a look inside the dizzy and check nothing has come adrift. Failing...
