Sand/grit blasting
Stripped the front axle down today - one of the swivel housings was full of water! Both are pitted so I'll need a new pair, plus bearings, etc.
Anyone know where I can get the axle and hub sand/grit blasted in the Harrogate area - cheap !!
Cheers

A Frame Ball Joint Removal
Need to replace the ball joint on the A-Frame 'cos it's just about worn away. I've removed the whole frame from the vehicle and also the two bolts that 'seem' to fasten the two halves of the ball joint assembly together but it won't come apart. I've hammered a cold chisel into the joint between the ...

Chassis No
Just following on from Nick's point above - will the new galv chassis have a brand new chassis number stamped on that I can then just register on my V5 with the DVLA? If not, do I somehow have to get the old chassis number stamped on it?

It's official ...........
Having spent a good deal of the weekend stripping the remaining items, including the bulkhead from the chassis and running a needle scaler over it (thanks BO!), my welding man and I have come to the conclusion that it was probably going to cost in the region of £300 - £400 to repair the chassis, o...

Loom
Cheers Matthew, sounds a capital idea. I'd also want to tap you up for what mods might be needed (if any) to mate it to my TDi. I'll give you a bell and arrange a convenient time, maybe over the weekend?

New loom or not new loom - that's the question
Those of you following the systematic demolition of my project 90 on the 'Members Vehicles' section of the forum will know that I'm just about at the end of the unbolt/undo/unscrew/grind off stage and will soon be getting on with welding and then priming. Since we removed the engine yesterday (200 T...

Engine & box out
Needed a bit of help tonight from Phil & Tim to get the engine and gearbox out - dirty job but someone's got to do it !! (Thanks to Dave for the loan of his engine hoist ) Anyway, chassis just needs a final degrease at the front and we're ready to start welding and then priming. Looking fo...

Topless
It looks about the same condition as my 90. Like the use of expanding foam around the top of the bulkhead - nice touch.
PM me with you phone number/address and I'll come and have a look. I've got the old ones off as a match.
Cheers

200 TDi Intercooler
Quick question - I've removed the intercooler from the 200TDi defender that I'm rebuilding and it's got a fair coating of oil on the inner surfaces. There's no actual oil in the unit and the coating that is in it is sticky rather than slippy. Is this OK and should I just wash it through with petrol ...
