Thanks for the replies, I'll pass the comments about low box / locking down a gear to Lindsey as the heavy trailer in question is our horse trailer which comes in at around 2500kg with both our horses in it. Regarding fitting a bigger oil cooler - is there an easy drop in replacement cooler I can so...

I've fixed the leccy windows problem. Turns out it wasn't water in the control unit, it was a dry solder joint. Have a look at this page for more details: http://www.landyworld.co.uk/discovery-technical/repair-land-rover-discovery-1-rear-electric-windows/ I took the control units out of both the sma...

Discovery Transmission Oil
Whilst towing a trailer of about 2.5 tons up a longish steepish hill yesterday a red light came on just above the engine temperature gauge which, going by what it looked like I assume was telling me that the ATF was getting a bit too hot in the autobox. Assuming I'm right about what it meant, are th...

Thanks Bo, that gives me something to work with. Next question - what kind of sealant is best to seal up sunroofs? This is the vehicle btw, just bought it to replace the one Lindsey parked on its roof: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/251473348377 Seems spot on so far, drove back from Middlewich without a ...

Discovery Central Locking / Electric Windows
If a Disco (S reg 300tdi Disco1) central locking is only opening 3 of the 4 doors where would be the first place to look to try and work out why it isn't working on the 4th one? It's the drivers side back door if that makes any difference. Also if the rear windows are only working intermittently wha...

Series radiators.
Afternoon all, Connor's 1967 S2a needs a new radiator as the existing one leaks like a sieve. Looking around at what is available it seems that anything up to about 1969 has a radiator with the bottom hose coming out at 90 degrees to the radiator (i.e. pointing towards the back of the vehicle) but a...

Ride hight is fine, seems to be higher than most, would like to keep the hight as it is. Reason to change the springs, is they are around 2-3 years old and it had a hard life off roading so they must be ready for changing or braking soon!!! Someone who has been at it longer than me could well come ...

Thanks Matthew. I'm only topping it up at the moment as it has allegedly had a recent change. I can use the stuff I have for topping up the Saab then which makes life easy for now (the Saab uses that much of it these days I always have some handy...) I assume this is the stuff you recommend? I'll st...

300Tdi oil.
What grade oil would people suggest I put in my 300Tdi? the manual seems to give me a variety of options depending on the temperature but there is a huge overlap in the middle so almost all of the options seem to be available in the UK climate.
TIA,
Paul

Discovery 300Tdi EGR and cat removal
Given there seems to be universal positive comments online about removing the EGR and cat from a 300tdi engine, claiming power and economy improvements, is there any reason anyone can think of for not buying this kit: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/220907012523 It seems like a no brainer to me but given ...
