Yet more time spent on the load bed today. Hole saw arrived nice and early so took the cover off and drilled the hole for the snorkel. Refitted the cover and tried to figure out a way of drilling a similar hole in the inner wheel arch that lined up with the hole in the cover. Eventually took the plu...

Thanks Roger, might still have some Simex to fit back on the rims :) All help gratefully received. Today started quite badly, first job was to measure out and cut the hole for the snorkel in the load cover. Spent ages trying to drill through it with a holecutter that I'd last used to drill a hole in...

Spent today working on the load area. Added all the fittings to the new fuel tank first of all. Lots of measuring, re-measuring as each hole was cut for each of the fittings. Routed the return pipe into the internal swirl pot on this tank too. Trimmed the new bulkhead down to fit the rather misshape...

Another catch up post... Had a problem with the fuel tank, while calibrating the gauge (using water instead of petrol) I found a leak on one of the seams. So the fuel tank had to be put on hold until another visit to the ali fabricator could be sorted out. Got the gauge calibrated at least.... This ...

Spent today welding up/modifying the additional brackets for the second pair of rear shock absorbers. Also had to drill out the mounting holes for the top brackets which turned into a real pain of a job, mainly because of the piece of 100x50x3 box section that runs inside the chassis at that point f...

The OBC is organised around fuel and competitors travel in convoy along predetermined routes. Fuel stations stay open specifically for the event so we're guaranteed fuel with a maximum of 500km between fillups. The biggest danger is using too much fuel in the special stages, hence the extra 100km ra...

Some pics with the cage, new spats, sill bars and bumper on. Sill bars and bumper need painting still and the bumper could do with pulling a bit straighter if it will. http://forum.yorkshireoffroadclub.net/gallery/albums/userpics/10002/normal_109_0914.JPG http://forum.yorkshireoffroadclub.net/galler...

You do know I don't have to stay here to be insulted ? The trip to Maddisons has been postponed for a few days, probably just as well as it eventually took me most of today to fit the new wheel arch thingies. I ended up having to modify the sill bars for the rear spats which wasn't too big a deal bu...

It's as well I'm not easily offended.... good excuse not to carry the canes around though - don't want to get done for impersonating a post man ! Got the roll cage on tonight, looks really well against the red paint and having the front light surrounds and lights in has made a big difference. Might ...

If you saw a red glow on the northern horizon while you were navigating your way around map 110, don't worry, it was just my motor being transported home from Andy's place. Alec had to wear sunglasses to cut down the glare from behind him when it was on his transporter ! Once again, a big thanks to ...

It's Red ! You'll certainly see it coming now, I'll take some pics tomorrow when it's out in daylight and the masking has been removed. Decided that, as the wheel arches hadn't arrived in time anyway, it would be better to transport it home rather than driving it and risk damaging the paint while it...

Good news is that the paint arrived today so it'll be sprayed tomorrow.
