Transfer box oil seal

Postby varleym » Sat Feb 26, 2011 12:05 pm

It never rains but it pours........

Filled everything up this week and found to my dismay that there's a significant leak on the transfer box front output. Hadn't noticed it before as I seem to remember when I drained the transfer box there was only about a cup full came out.

So the question is, how big a job is it to change the front output oil seal and do I need any specialist tools (puller/press) to do it?

Cheers

Mark

Mark

My 200tdi 90 had the same problem and i had to replace the output flange and the seal because of the wear on the surface. I managed to change the seal without any special tools but as far as i can remember the seal is recessed into the casing.
