As TD5 Defenders are starting to filter down and appear at trails etc many come with TC (traction control) as standard, now this is in affect an electronic cross axle dif lock so will they be stopped from competeing or moved into another class ??

Although there are benefits from TC the benefits aren't so huge that they seem to give any more benefit than, say, a decent pair of tyres.

The same applies to limited slip diffs as we also have a couple of vehicles competing with those too - we may even have some vehicles with auto locking diffs for all we know.

We've always tried to keep the class system as simple and broad as we can and it may well be that, at some point, this will have to be tweaked but it's not something we want to rush into. If a trend develops that means that those with TC seem to be gaining an unfair advantage then some form of penalty may be applied to level the playing field.

Some vehicles will always have an edge over others, this can be down to suspension, tyres, wheelbase, width etc... This can vary quite widely from trial to trial as well, depending on the way it is set out and the terrain.
