Anything is possible

Postby Zedman » Fri May 07, 2010 7:15 pm

I one built a Triumph motorcycle from an old log book my dad had in a drawer and no parts whatsoever, scrounged all the parts from freinds and family, secret is to change one part at a time, frame or chassis , then send them the new engine number a week later )

hey presto new vehicle without having to resort to a Q plate.

Erm wonder if if its possible to dodge taxing it, ie over 25 years old with this method ?

might start looking in scrap yards for really old Jeeps )

Taxed, Insured and (so far) not leaking. Now got to build up confidence and do an oil flush/change prior to the run to RHB at the weekend.

Also just heard that I have passed my final amateur radio exam - to say I am happy would be an understatement!

:D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D

BTW - the new DVLA place at Temple Point is excellent! Slick and well organised, although my passage through the system was eased rather by my inadvertent queue jumping - I didn't realise until I was walking out - honest!

Just fitted a new battery - excellent service, £68 for an 86aH leisure battery with 1000A cold cranking capability and delivered in less than 24hrs.

If you need a battery - and you can find them - then maybe you should buy http://www.tayna.co.uk/Numax-CXV-X-1000-Amp-P7632.html

Oh BTW - my starter motor does not need a service after all - you should hear it crank now :)

It might be worth getting your alternator checked out properly. As it tends to be under or over charging that knackers batteries.

Oil

Postby TwoSheds » Sat May 15, 2010 5:54 pm

You would think that with 45 years practice I would be able to change the oil without doing this:

lol - i do that every time i change the oil filter on my 90!

oil runs up your arm as you unscrew the filter and then splashes all over my head when it finally comes free of the thread.

Well the car hasn't broken down or needed anything doing to it for WEEKS, so:
I thought I would just investigate the structure around the cut-line - then
I thought I would just lift the window rubber for a better look - then
I thought I would just remove the glass...

This is how it usually starts with me - I just hope that it doesn't take months to get it back on the road this time...
