the best thing about that colour though will be in summer, we can park it a few hundred yards away from everyone else and we won't be bothered by flies :)

It Lives .............

Postby varleym » Sun Feb 20, 2011 7:06 pm

It Lives.......it breaths.......... it makes noises like a tractor.....

Yes - after several months effort we managed to breath life into the engine today (just after we got back from the pub actually). Bit of faffing about bleeding the diesel through and she struck up sweet as a nut. At least I must have got the timing belt change right if nothing else.

Showed a healthy (I think!) 45 PSI oil pressure on tickover (thanks to Mr Willard's new gauge & sender uni)t. Got a bit carried away with the excitement and forgot to open the garage door so nearly gassed ourselves in the process - but it was well worth it !!

Once I've bled the brakes & clutch it's off to my mates to 'cut and shut' the 300Tdi Disco exhaust I got from Paddocks for £39 into a single box system that comes out of the rear quarter panel. Once that's done I'm down to painting, re-fitting the lights and then down to the garage in Summerbridge to see the nice MOT man.

I feel the end may be in sight.

Cheers

Mark

Are you painting the wheels red to give it the full effect?

Progress Update

Postby varleym » Sat Feb 26, 2011 9:36 pm

Good week this week, got the Disco exhaust 'cut and shut', fits very well. Also got the 300 Tdi airbox fitted and piped up as well as finishing the Raptor dash & switch install.

Had to modify the snorkel design as the front hoop of the rollcage is right behind the 'normal' air intake on the wing so just brought it in through the wing top via some plastic fall-pipe fittings and various bits of TD5 hose (thanks Mike).

Gonna start flatting off tomorrow for the paint - sunglasses at the ready.

Cheers

Mark
