Reversing gear problem!

Postby Picky2k » Thu Oct 20, 2011 4:03 pm

Hi chaps & chapess'

My little bro has just bought his first Discovery 1. All was going well but now it won't engage reverse gear.

Is this a well know problem? If so, is it a simple fix or is he looking at a new box?

If we get it sorted he will hopefully be trailing with us very soon.

Thanks in advance

James (& Matty)

I'm not aware of any common problems other than one where you can't select 5th either.

If you can't physically get the gearstick into the reverse position I'd start by checking the simple things like the reverse switch. Failing that, I believe taking the selector mechanism off the top of the gearbox is pretty straight forward and you may find it's something simple in there. Never had to do it myself on an R380 though.

Any further into the box and you're on your own :)

Cheers Dave,

Problem now solved, turned out to be a rogue washer!

See you soon...James
