Additional heater

Postby Adrian Dawes » Sun Dec 23, 2012 9:20 am

Hello all
I am currently looking to buy an additional heater as my series hybrid's heating is virtually non existent.

Do any of you have any recommendations for a good 12v plug in heater/ de- mister or suggest any alternatives.

Merry Christmas and Happy New year to everyone
Adrian

Hi Adrian,

You may:

1) fit an Eberspacher heater for a long term solution....but them are costly
2) or fit an additional rafiator from a small car with a fan on it.....which involves some work with the coolant piping
3) or buy a few of those 12v 150w car heater from ebay for less than a tenner each.......but they are not that efficient, hence suggests that you buy a few :D

Hope it helps...

Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to you.

Change the thermostat, its only a couple of quid and it got my admittidaly pathetic 90 heater blowing 'warm' air out ( it is the easist componant on a landrover to change, ever), It transformed mine from NO warm air to at least something for under a fiver.

Oddly doing an engine oil and injector flush make the thing get up to temp 3 times as faster, no idea why but I am hoping its just becasue lots of gunk has been cleaned out.

Consider a fertiliser sack on the front rad aka farmer style in freezing weather, this should give a bit of a boost once the thermostat kicks in and starts circulating water around the radiator.
