Defender rear tailpipe section

Postby Jabba » Tue Feb 10, 2015 6:27 pm

The exhaust on my 90 has just the rear silencer box and the pipe that leads out of it to the wing has just fallen off. Does anyone know if I have to have a silencer in the system at all or can I just replace the rear box with a straight through pipe? If so, any ideas where I can get one?

Cheers.

You don't need one as long as it's not too loud and with the turbo it won't be , piece of straight pipe and a couple of bends is the cheapest or a custom exhaust place , mine cost £40 in SS and runs from just in front of the axle over the axle turns 90 deg then up and another 90deg out of wing .
Guy I use in Wortley but can't remember his name atm

If you want to make one up yourself, I use Jetex for the parts:

Stainless or mild in any normal diameter, just work out what bends you need and how much straight. Each component comes with a socket at one end so they just push together. I normally slot them together and weld most of the joints, using clamps where I need to to make fitting/removal more practical.

Thanks for the replies. I'll have to work out what length/bends I need and check out some prices.
