Looks like I've got some cleaning to do! I'm hoping I can get away without needing a full rebuild but we'll see what I find when I take the head and sump off.

Spot on, it's a 1950 TED-20 "Grey Fergie". I decided that the house and keeping on top of the Landy whilst working 60 hours a week wasn't enough so I've got myself another project...

I'll let you know if/when I actually do get it to run! I've not even tried so far, at least in part due to me not having a suitable battery for it (it's a 6V model), but also as someone seems to have put a 12V coil on it so I need to get the right coil too. Now I've seen the inside of the rocker cover though I don't think I dare even try until I've had the head and sump off and given it all a thorough clean. The inside of the gearbox as viewed through the gearstick hole isn't the prettiest sight either so it might be some time before it's in a fit state to be driven.

I will be doing when I get it going. I'll have to find somewhere to buy the kerosene from through as we're still in the stone age here heated by open fires. There should be somewhere local I can get it in small (20 litre jerry can sized) quantities but I've not done any research into that yet. I can just run it on neat petrol to start with until I get it running properly.

You wouldn't be saying that if you had spent all summer topping a 1/3 acre paddock with an 18" cut lawnmower! It takes forever and the mower doesn't like it very much either.

Once it's running I'll be getting a chain harrow and a topper as our 1/3 acre needs attention and we have friends locally with a similar amount who have already volunteered me to do theirs too.

It is also a bit of a toy as well though I'll admit.

I'm jealous, I'd like a grey fergy tractor but I don't have anywhere to keep it, still my uncle & his mate always have a couple of them running & one in bits (sound familiar?) as well as various bits equipment.
