Rear Shock Absorbers

On my 110 overland vehicle which has X springs fitted to the rear I seem to destroy the rear shock absorbers.

So any advice on what shock absorbers to fit?

Currently considering Tough Dog Ralph shock absorbers which have a 5 year/100,000 miles warrenty. Any good or bad experiences with these shocks?

Any other alternative ideas?

Given the weight you're carrying maybe doubling up on rear shocks would help them last longer ?

It's not a big job, the top mounts just bolt on anyway and replacement bottom mounts can be trimmed to suit and welded back to back with the original mounts. Doubling them up reduces the heat build up and gives you redundancy if one of them does die prematurely.

Thanks Dave. An idea which needs further investigation.

Am currently running on raised shock mounts and +8" shocks with Xsprings. When running +4" shocks on standard mounts I found that they bottomed out on Eastern European roads. Yep the bump stops can be compressed! Hence the +8" and raised mounts.

So twin +8" and raised shock mounts
