90 Drum brake cylinder replacement

Postby Jabba » Sun Oct 10, 2010 1:16 pm

While faffing around the fuel tank, I noticed brake fluid on the rear wheel. I've already replaced the brake cylinder seals but it still seems to be leaking so I guess it's time to replace the entire cylinder.

Are the non-genuine ones worth it? They are around 10 quid while genuine ones seem to be £30 so a lot cheaper, but if they are cr#p then it'll be better paying more.

A couple of years ago my brother in law replaced his with cheap ones and has had not trouble so far - he doesn't do many miles though...

I've used the cheap ones on my 90 & series3 for years, there doesn't seem to be problems.
The genuine ones don't survive regular immersion in muddy water any better than the cheap ones.
