Alternator

Need to know what's broken and maybe how to fix it ? Post here

problem with very high output alternators is if you get a big battery drain - eg winching - the alt will try and shove it all back in one go. The wiring will need upgrading to cope with potentially 230amp instead of the 90 it currently uses and your serp belt might slip a bit with the effort.

I have some 35mm square welding/battery cable around which I think is good for 250 amp - 300 amp. Would it be okay if I just add it on direct from alternator to battery on the B+ terminal??

Kingson, I belive you have 2 batteries so there should be no need to run such a high output alternator.

there are probably loads of campanies that can refurb your old one also
