Discovery propshaft conversion
My Discovery propshaft donut disintegrated on the return journey from RHB . Please can someone help with the requirements of the conversion and the type of flange required to convert it to a standard UJ type. I think this topic has been covered before but i cannot find it. Any help greatly appreciated.

once you have the donut off, just refit the normal flange.
beware there are 2 types, square and round. The round ones are longer and fit fine, the square ones are shorter and need a little spacer behind it.

Jim,
I'd converted my previous to run without the donut, you will need 4 items:
- rear prop shaft off a 200tdi disco
- pinion spacer, 1st link below
- 4 bolt flange kit, 2nd link
- 4 x new prop bolts, 8 x new prop nuts
Dave Medd has a tool to remove the 3 bolt flange, you may ask him to borrow that, as that will make the removal of the 3 bolt flange much easier. I used grinder to cut it off.
When I replaced my rear diff, I'd removed the 4 bolt flange set and gave it to Nick Adams as spares, you may also ask him if he needs them. Think They may still be at Matthew's.

the way i did mine to run without the rubber ring of death was to get a 200tdi rear prop and get a front diff and put ir together took me less than an hour to fit it all ..... dont forget tho you need to get 4 prop bolts as the old ones are to big for the 4 bolt flange

I am after a propshaft if you have one for sale.

The pin hasn't moved yet but hopefully it will if i leave it over night with tension on it, otherwise i might have to attack it with Mr angry grinder .

Hi Jim, the hole did not go all the way through on mine so I drilled through with an 8mm tapping drill and then tapped the thread all the way through. I then used a long 8mm bolt with a point ground on the end. The point is to locate it in the end of the pinion and stop it wondering off as you add pressure, to apply a load whilst I gently tapped the spigot from side to side with a hammer. I have used that method twice now without problem.

If it will not move I have a puller to remove the 3 bolt flange (Takes 15 mins and no fires ) and will drop it off for you whenever. PM me with address
Dave, Thanks for the offer to loan the puller but i have managed to remove the pin from the flange.
