There are
times when the quarry at Castleford "sets" to the consistency of concrete...
this February wasn't one of them though ! The wet conditions turned the site
into a quagmire making any movement around the site an achievement with any
meaningful traction in very short supply. Two of the sections had to be dropped
due to "force majeur (FM)", in other words the rain just after dinner made
two sections that had been OK in the morning undriveable in the afternoon
so each group ended up dropping a different section. I've
included the scores for those that did drive the two sections for reference
but they have not been included in the totals.
The hailstorm meant that the results couldn't be posted on the day. If anyone
spots any discrepancies in the scores can you let
me know. Some of the score cards appear to have been dropped in puddles
and on some of them the ink had run thanks to the wet conditions ! It's taken
a while to figure out who got what score on which section but we think we
managed to decipher it all correctly :-)
Despite the weather it was a great trial and our thanks have
to go to those that set it out, officiated and marshalled on
