This
was a new site for the club and from my distant memories of
the site I could recall trees, mud and rocks but not a lot
else about the site. The two Marks, ably assisted by John,
Bob, Amanda and Claire had to put up with torrential rain
on Saturday while they set the trial out but, fortunately,
Sunday proved to be dry and warm (or as close as it gets in
Yorkshire in October). Due to the "compact" nature
of the site we had to cap the entry at 20 which was another
club first and something we may have to consider at other
small sites too. The single "no show" entry was
taken by Phill Harrison who turned up as a "reserve"
to compete or marshal.
The trial itself was challenging without being too daft and
those setting out had used nice wide gates with the terrain
and the odd tree or rock being the main challenges. The previous
day's rain had made the ground extremely slick with some apparently
innocuous looking parts of the sections turning out to be
traps to catch the unwary, sending your vehicle sliding gracefully
into a cane or simply coming to a standstill with all wheels
spinning !
All in all it was a great days trialling and those responsible
are to be congratulated.
