Another great weekends off roading at this varied site in West Yorkshire. With an off road driving day on Saturday and a trial on Sunday we hoped this event would appeal to all our members in one way or another. Saturday saw quite a few new members getting their wheels dirty for the first time and some older members who had never been to the site before learning just how challenging some of the terrain can be.
Sunday saw a slightly depleted turnout with a number of Saturdays participants opting to marshal due to "breakages". A "technical" trial had been laid out by Rod and John (C of C and Scrutineer respectively) using all 3 of Tong's best features : water, mud and trees... oh those trees... Fortunately for the V8 owners amongst us they took pity on us and avoided some of the deeper areas of water ! Once again a close fought trial with the result not decided until the final section (which had an absolute swine of a 5 gate).
Thanks again to all those that organised or took part in the event, particularly John and Rod for all their hard work and all those that marshalled the trial. We can't do it without you ! Special mention has to go to Simon though - anyone who drives a Mini around Tong, including part of the pond needs either a medal or his head examined... the jury is out :-)
